Pint Pinger is a private photo log for small groups of friends. You crack one open, snap it, and your mates get a ping. That is the whole app.

If you are writing about a problem in the app, it helps to include your iPhone model, your iOS version, and what you were doing when it went wrong.

Common questions

The app says it needs iCloud.
Pint Pinger uses your iCloud account as its login, so there is no separate password to forget. Sign in to iCloud in the iPhone Settings app, then open Pint Pinger again. Make sure iCloud Drive is on.

I am not getting pings.
Check iPhone Settings, then Notifications, then Pint Pinger, and make sure Allow Notifications is on. Also check that Focus or Do Not Disturb is not silencing them. The crack sound only plays if notification sounds are allowed.

How do I join a group?
You need the six-character invite code from someone already in it. In the app, tap the group name at the top of the screen, choose Your Groups, then Join a Group, and enter the code.

How do I start a group?
Same screen: tap the group name at the top, choose Your Groups, then Start a Group. You get a code to share with your mates.

How do I report a post or a comment?
Open the post and tap the three dots at the top right, then Report post, and pick a reason. For a comment, press and hold it. Reported content disappears for you straight away, permanently, and the report reaches the operator immediately.

How do I block someone?
Same three dots menu on any post, or press and hold one of their comments, or tap their name in your group's member list. Blocking hides your content from each other in both directions. To unblock, go to Settings and then Blocked Users.

Where is Settings?
Tap the group name at the top of the screen, choose Your Groups, then the gear icon at the top right.

How do I delete my account and everything I have posted?
Settings, then Delete My Account. You will be asked to type DELETE to confirm. It removes your posts, photos, comments, reactions, memberships, and profile permanently, and it cannot be undone.

Can I get a copy of my data?
Yes. Email Seb@belfiore.io and you will get one within 30 days.

Is my stuff public?
No. There is no public feed and no follower system. A post is only ever visible to members of the group you posted it to.

How old do I have to be?
You must be of legal drinking age in the country where you live. The app asks you to confirm this before you can use it.
